Sexual Discrimination: one of the Social Issues of Chile

Today the government say that more equality exists in genres, in politics, in works, rights, etc. Though the modern world has stimulate a series of changes in this kind, is clear that many differences exists in this kind compared with 50 years ago, but even exists discrimination to the feminine genre.

I don´t considerer a “feminist” or “chauvinist” person, but when I see the reality and with objectives eyes, I considerer that even exists important points that today I don´t know if they are far of to be completely results, but is true that has been complicated to advance in the “genre equality”.

For example in works, a man and a woman that occupy the same position, they work the same hours and under the same conditions, but they are not equally remunerated, the men earn a certain percent more than women. This not has to be like that, the capacities are not to measure as the genre. In another hand serious problem exists owed to the probabilities to be pregnant. The companies prefer to avoid to contract women between 18 and 30 years old owed to they have a high percent to be pregnant, because they are highly fertile ages. The fact that they conceive a baby implies medical licenses, obligatory payments of salary of the company, “post-natal” and a series of benefits that for rights the government tries to grant to the women in this condition. Therefore sometimes it turns to in a challenge to obtain a work under these conditions.

I think that the solution for these it is that the government continues advancing in the social politics that try to assure the rights of women, but this politics have to be stronger. I hope that manages to balance and to assure finally the equality of genre. 

The Internet: Good or Evil?

Today, all of the people have access to the internet; It is very common in all the houses and also in public places find wi-fi. The internet offer a variety of functions, makes it easy to search for information, communication between the people and even there are people who work from their homes through the internet, It is as the basis of “Globalization”. But this tool has good and bad things, advantages and disadvantages.

In the advantages we can mention about the facilities that the internet offer us. It is easy and faster be able to obtain information of all kinds, know other cultures and persons of the foreigner, it facilitates the communication among the persons, for this the instantaneous communication exists across social networks, post office, etc. It allows to obtain a wide vision of what happens in the world, in ours around.

But on the other hand they find the disadvantages, which can manage to influence of bad form the utilization of the Internet. Nowadays privacy is had very small, due to the use of the social, such networks, as Facebook. On the other hand one we finds the use of the chats to know someone for this way, which is not known the one who is really. The above mentioned is very complicated especially by the children of 12 - 15 year old that shut in themselves in his houses to talk with strangers, which can manage to create serious problems. Also to this age one gives that the children already do not have social life with his couples of way presence, increases the loneliness and individualism.

In general, the Internet brings both advantages and disadvantages but to me to seem, the disadvantages come to very complicated limits.

The best holiday I´ve ever had

 

My best holiday was in 2013 I went to Pichilemu. Almost every year, with my family, go for there, but this year was different, because I went there with my boyfriend and my family.  It was the first time that we were going out of vacations together and for that I was very happy. We stayed there 10 days; we remain in the cabins of always. Behind of the stable where the cabins are located one finds the beach.

In the course of the days we did fed up things, though I do not remember all, but the most important, yes. Some days we went to two beaches, in one of them we raise ourselves to a “banano” where stay we all wetted and it was entertaining. One night, with my boyfriend, went to the center to a restaurant-bar, where listened to a band, ate dads fried and drunk beer, it was a good night.

One of the most important moments that I remember, is when I went with my boyfriend to Punta de Lobos, we went in the evening of the day before to return to Santiago, and for that we wanted to do some special. When we come there, we sit down in a rockery in front of the sector where surf is practised. On having happened the hours, people began to come, and it was because already the late afternoon was coming closer. There was a moment in which a foreigner asked us to extract a photo with his daughter with the sight to the sea, and we her help. Then, when we wanted to take a photo of the same form, we couldn´t and she bring over and give us help with it, we didn´t know that the photo that she us would extract was going to be the best photo that we remember of these vacations.

 

 

The education in Chile

This topic has been very important in the last year, here,  in Chile. ¿Why? In Chile the education is not free, in many other countries it is free because it is considered a right. And is a right! Not a good of consumption as seen in Chile.

The concept of “market education” comes from the military dictatorship, in this period the education in Chile was privatized, began to exist the private schools and private universitys, and started the ”profit”.

Thanks to the profit, many entrepreneurs of education have favoured, and this problem exists today. In addition, the education in Chile is bad, the quality is not good, the childrens of private schools receive better education than the childrens who studies in public schools. In the universtity, the tuitions are very high, and de low-income families cannot afford de children education.

Starting from these inefficiencies, in the year 2011 existed many mobilizations for education "free and quality", within the mobilizations there were marches, strikes and “tomas” of colleges and universities, flasmob, dances, cultural expressions, bike, videos alluding to the education, etc. Most of the students in Chile were mobilized to overthrow the current educational system, all this hard for at least 7 months. The society supported the cause, and often “cacerolazos” occurred in form de protest. The police repression was strong, there were many detainees and wounded, but the movement continued. Finally some progress was made, but it was difficult to convince the state to change the inefficient education system.

Today 2014, even fighting the same, there is profit and education is still a system of market, but we have hope even de this may improve, and to get the education "free and quality" that we all want.

 

Manal al Sharif: A brave woman

Inside the world there exist diverse cultures that have aspects jointly and others in those who are very different. One of the most radical differences that are considered nowadays is the discrimination between generes, especially to the women. One of the countries with more restrictions towards the women is Saudi Arabia, Islamic; where in his policies, for example, one prohibits to the women to lead vehicles, which has caused the world to have a vision of this country as "a territory not free ".

There is understood then that if a woman leads a vehicle in this country, this one will be punished by the law and will be imprisoned. It happened that in the year 2011 there began a so called campaign "Women 2 Drive" across the social networks, in which there took part a woman called Manal al Sharif, of 32 years. She on May 21 together with his brother, it recorded a video where she appears driving a vehicle, video that later was spread by the social networks. From this they stopped it then left her at liberty, and the following day they return to arrest her but they imprisoned this time for 9 days. The video was seen by thousands of persons in a little time, causing the indignation of some and the admiration of others.

In my opinion, she was a very brave woman, who risked his freedom and even his life on having demonstrated in opposition to a fact that it is unacceptable. The human beings, both men and women, must have the same rights, it cannot be that in a country is discriminated of such a form, not that a religion imposes laws that commit an outrage against any type of kind, managing to raise even death sentences.

Movie Review

On one hand, the irresponsibility that the human have with the Earth. Some actions provoke the disappear of the species, the pollution in the city, problems in the health of the persons, alteration of the natural geography, etc. When the problems are visible, appears the panic in the population, another topic important.

“Earth 2100” talk about the destruction of the Earth across the time. This movie has a protagonist, that is a girl that live all of the process and experimented all of the changes. Her name is Lucy. She talk about of the relation of her life history with the decadence that is living through the Earth.

 

The Earth lives through a natural catastrophe, the extinction of many species, animals, shortage of natural resources, death of the vegetation and also that of the human being. All that is the consequence of the bad actions that the people have done. The human being who uses cars every day and this has created the pollution in the city, has not been in the responsible person with this, has not been conscious with the problems that this brings. When in the movie they show when the disasters begin, the people try to create a solution of this, but the problems continue.

In my opinion this movie shows the reality with the terrible consequences that probably happen in the future, is not removed of the reality. In my experience I have seen when the people cannot remain calm when an earthquake affects the city and, for me, that is a problem because is more complicated to solve the situation. Also I have seen people that is not interested in save the Earth, or simply to help with the cleanliness of his cities.

 

I´m going to work with the geography, and I expect to help with my knowledge to improve the quality of life of the persons as a whole in spite of preserving the nature.
